Modern Sequence Dancing for All

ISBN 0-9501927-3-2 T.A.Whitworth. 1994, 178 pages

A complete guide to the theory and practice of both old-time and modern sequence dancing. The most important book on this subject yet to appear written for the general reader and the expert alike. There are exercises for beginners, and a strategy for learning and remembering sequence dances is developed. History, General Technique, Latin American and Old-Time dancing are among the topics covered and a large amount of information not readily available elsewhere is present.

The manual concentrates on the special groups of steps called dancing figures - these are widely used for learning and remembering sequence dances. Any sequence dance can be split up into a relatively short sequence of these dancing figures. A dance leader will often call out figures such as "reverse turn," "whisk," "promenade chasse" if his dancers are going astray in a sequence.
